WHAT ARE FULL ARCH IMPLANTS?

Full arch implants, also known as full mouth implants, are a permanent and life-changing solution for people who have lost most or all of their teeth. Unlike traditional dentures, this treatment uses a small number of dental implants (typically four to six) that are strategically placed in the jawbone.

These implants then act as a stable foundation for a full, custom-made bridge of teeth, restoring your entire smile. At York Road Dental Practice in Wandsworth, we can help you achieve a beautiful, functional, and permanent set of teeth.

WHY CHOOSE FULL MOUTH IMPLANTS?

Choosing full mouth implants is about more than just replacing teeth; it’s about reclaiming your quality of life. Patients often choose this solution to escape the daily struggles of traditional dentures, which can slip, feel uncomfortable, and require messy adhesives. Full mouth implants offer a fixed, reliable alternative that looks and feels like natural teeth. This permanent solution allows you to eat, speak, and smile with renewed confidence, giving you the freedom you may have thought was gone forever.

BENEFITS OF FULL ARCH IMPLANTS

The advantages of full arch implants are extensive and transformative. Key benefits include:

  • Improved Confidence: Your new teeth will be securely in place, allowing you to speak and smile without worry.
  • Enhanced Function: You can enjoy all your favourite foods again, as full arch implants provide a strong, stable bite.
  • Jawbone Preservation: The implants stimulate the jawbone, preventing the bone loss that often occurs when teeth are missing. This helps maintain your facial structure and a more youthful appearance.
  • Durability and Longevity: With proper care, full mouth implants are a long-lasting solution that can last for many years.
  • Comfort: Because the new teeth are fixed in place, there is no need for adhesives, and they are much more comfortable than removable dentures.

WOULD FULL MOUTH IMPLANTS BE RIGHT FOR ME?

Full mouth implants are an excellent option for individuals who are missing most or all of their teeth on one or both arches. The best way to determine if you are a suitable candidate is to schedule a consultation with our experienced team at York Road Dental Practice in Wandsworth. We will conduct a thorough examination of your oral health, assess the density of your jawbone, and discuss your personal goals to create a treatment plan tailored just for you.

THE STEP-BY-STEP TREATMENT PROCESS

You will have your initial consultation with Dr Minas Leventis, a renowned expert in the field of implantology. You will discuss exactly what you want to achieve from the procedure, and Dr Leventis will be able to walk you through the process and how your end results should look.

Step 1 – Initial consultation & planning: We begin with a detailed examination, including digital scans, to create a precise treatment plan for the placement of your implants.

Step 2 – Implant placement: During a simple, comfortable procedure, a small number of implants are strategically placed in your jawbone.

Step 3 – Healing & osseointegration: Over the next few months, the implants will fuse with your jawbone in a process called osseointegration, creating a strong, permanent foundation.

Step 4 – Fitting your new teeth: Once the implants have fully healed, we will attach your custom-made, permanent bridge of teeth.

Step 5 – Final results: You will leave our practice with a stunning new smile and all the information you need to care for your new teeth.

FAQ’s

Suitability for full arch implants is determined on a case-by-case basis. Generally, this treatment is an excellent option for individuals who have lost most or all of their teeth and are looking for a stable, permanent solution. Key factors we consider include your general health, oral hygiene habits, and the density of your jawbone. The best way to find out if you are a good candidate is to schedule a consultation with us, and we can perform a thorough examination and discuss a personalised treatment plan with you.

The surgical procedure to place the full arch implants is remarkably efficient and can often be completed in just one appointment, which typically lasts a few hours. However, the full treatment process is a multi-step journey. After the implants are placed, there is a healing period of several months, during which the implants integrate with your jawbone. This ensures a strong, stable foundation for your new teeth. Once the healing is complete, your final, custom-made teeth will be fitted, completing the process.

Full arch implants are designed to be a long-term, permanent solution. With proper care, they can last for many years, and often a lifetime. Their longevity depends on a few key factors: maintaining excellent oral hygiene, attending regular dental check-ups, and following all aftercare instructions. The implant posts themselves are made of durable, biocompatible materials like titanium, which are not susceptible to decay, making them a very reliable and lasting investment in your smile.
